What is CKITE?
The Central Kansas Chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (CKITE) is a society of professionals who promote the knowledge and understanding of the traffic and transportation field. CKITE is the local chapter of the Missouri Valley section (MOVITE) of the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE). The region covered by CKITE includes the metropolitan areas of Wichita, Salina, Hutchinson, Derby, Newton and the surrounding areas.
The formation of CKITE occurred in 2012 with the purpose of facilitating the application of technology and scientific principles to research, planning, functional design, implementation, operation, policy development and management for any mode of transportation. CKITE promotes professional development of its members, supports and encourages education, stimulates research, develops public awareness programs and serves as a conduit for the exchange of professional information.
What is ITE?
The Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) is an international educational and scientific association of transportation professionals who are responsible for meeting mobility and safety needs. Founded in 1930, ITE serves as a gateway to knowledge and advancement through meetings, seminars, and publications, and through its network of 17,000 members, working in over 90 countries.
How is ITE Organized?
ITE is divided into 10 districts worldwide. Each district includes local sections and chapters. The CKITE chapter will be one of eight local chapters in MOVITE of District 4 (Midwestern District).
Who may join CKITE?
CKITE is open to all involved in the transportation industry in Central Kansas, including engineers, technicians, planners, designers, safety professionals, and anyone else interested in the industry. You do not need to be an ITE member to join CKITE.
If you would like to become a member of CKITE, please fill out the CKITE Membership Application, and submit it to one of the CKITE officers.
Annual membership dues are $10, and memberships for students is free with an advisors approval.
